Make an amazing sewing project with just one yard of fabric. There are easy projects for the home, for kids, and as gifts!

When you’re looking at your fabric, it’s hard to come up with an idea if you have one yard of fabric. Sometimes you don’t have time, energy, or mental capacity to cut up that much fabric for a quilt, and it’s too small to make a blanket or an item of clothing.

That’s when these fantastic one yard sewing projects come in to save the day. Finally, use all that pretty fabric!

How much is one yard of fabric?

One yard of fabric is 36 inches long, but each different kind of fabric comes in different widths. For example, quilting cotton is 42 inches wide and cotton spandex jersey is 60 inches wide.

Check the width of the fabric before you get started on your project so that you know that you’ll have enough.

What is a pdf sewing pattern?

A PDF pattern is a sewing pattern designed on the computer and organized so that it can be printed on several letter or A4 size pieces of paper.

I love using PDF sewing patterns because if the pattern gets ruined or if my children or I changed sizes, I can always print it again. It’ll never be destroyed since I have a digital version!

How do you use a PDF sewing pattern?

Open the PDF on a computer and click print. When printing make sure that the scaling is set to 100% or no scaling so that the pattern prints at the correct size.

Once the pattern is printed it can be taped together to get the full size. Then the pattern can be cut for each pattern piece size or individual sizes can be traced so that the pattern can be used again and again. Learn how to use PDF sewing patterns.
