Learn how to make a DIY hair towel wrap with jersey knit fabric and a free sewing pattern. It’s great for plopping wet hair up on your head!
I’m often in a hurry whenever I get out of the shower with wet hair. Kids need to get to school, and my husband needs to get to work.
I need to wrap my hair up and keep it in place. I hate when I bend over and my wrap falls out!
I don’t have time to immediately dry my hair, so I usually plop my hair up in a hair towel wrap until I get time to dry it. Jersey knit fabric is good for hair, and you can make your own DIY hair towel wrap with a free sewing pattern.
To put the wrap on flip your head over so your hair is hanging down. Place one of the snaps on the center back of your head.
Gather the hair inside the wrap and twist it.
Flip the twist back over the head. Grab the other snap and attach it to the back snap. Your wrap is in place!

What is a PDF sewing pattern?
A PDF pattern is a sewing pattern designed on the computer and organized so that it can be printed on several letter or A4 size pieces of paper.
I love using PDF sewing patterns because if the pattern gets ruined or if my children or I changed sizes, I can always print it again. It’ll never be destroyed since I have a digital version!
How do you use a PDF sewing pattern?
Open the PDF on a computer and click print. When printing make sure that the scaling is set to 100% or no scaling so that the pattern prints at the correct size.
Once the pattern is printed it can be taped together to get the full size. Then the pattern can be cut for each pattern piece size or individual sizes can be traced so that the pattern can be used again and again.
DIY Hair Towel Wrap with Jersey Knit
supplies
- 1 yard of jersey knit fabric for the wrap
- 1/4 yard of jersey knit fabric for the band
- Plastic snaps and setting pliers
- Sewing tools
- Sewing machine
Fold the jersey for the wrap two times: one way and then the other. Line up the wrap pattern piece with two folds and cut the fabric.
Fold the jersey for the band in half. Line up the band pattern piece with one fold and cut the fabric.
Match up the short ends of the band with right sides together. Zigzag or serge the short ends together.
My fabric for the band pattern pieces wasn’t wide enough since I used a scrap piece of fabric. I had to add a couple extra pieces to get the right length, and that’s why there are three seams.
Fold the band in half with wrong sides together matching up the raw edges.
Divide the band into four equal sections. Divide the wrap into four equal sections.
Match up each section of the band with a section of the wrap.
Pin throughout each section.
Zigzag or serge the band to the wrap.
Add one side of the snap to the center back of the wrap. Add the other side of the snap to the center front of the warp.
You finished!
