I have moved a lot in the years so I have had to come up iwth a lot of different sewing room designs. I've had rooms that were just for sewing, I've had a tiny desk area that were just for sewing, and I've had my sewing room combined with the playroom so that my children could be near me when I sewed.
Sometimes you can purchase sewing room furniture that will work perfectly in your space. Sometimes you have to work with a desk or table that you already have. Sometimes you work with an Ikea sewing room. I've even sewed on two separate built in desks because I couldn't afford a desk at the time.
