My kids love dressing up for Halloween or just about any time they are doing pretend play. I love making an easy DIY costume for them that make them happy!
Since I’m usually making more than one costume every October, I need my costumes to be really easy and really quick to make. I loved when I could make family costumes and everyone coordinated, but those dreams are long gone now that they are old enough to have their own opinions. Now I’m just making a fast DIY costume that look fantastic with minimal effort.
I remember being so excited for Halloween when I was young and seeing all the cool handmade costumes that parents made. It was so fun to see what everyone was dressed up as! I still enjoy trick or treating and seeing all the amazing and imaginative costumes!
It’s a little different now that most people buy their costumes since the cost is so low, but there is something so amazing and special about a handmade costume. When I was young my parents sometimes helped me make a costume, but sometimes my brothers would help me and those were my favorite cotumes!
These costume definitely work for Halloween, but they also work for a costume party any time during the year. A lot of these have separate pieces that would work great for regular dress up. I love seeing my kids wearing a mermaid tail skirt, a furry animal tail, and wearing a pirate hat. Their imaginations are great!
