Make an easy DIY Duke Caboom Costume that is perfect for kids or adults. Use clothes from your closet and some DIY no-sew accessories!

My favorite character was Duke Caboom. He is funny and brave at all the right moments. I have some family from Canada so that was another from element. My husband is so great and let me dress him up as Duke Caboom for a Halloween costume!

This costume uses some items that you might have in your “to donate” pile and some easy DIY projects that give your items the right details. Easy DIY costumes are so fun and satsifying!

My husband even grew the perfect Duke Caboom mustache just for these pictures. It’s the perfect addition! If your husband or child does not want to (or can’t) grow a mustache, you can just draw it on with make up or face paint.

Additionally, you can add more details to the cape to make it look more like Duke Caboom’s cape, but I was going for simple over accurate.

Supplies

Cut the ribbon to the length of the sleeves of the white button up shirt. Cut the double sided adhesive tape to the same length as the ribbons. I used two strips of adhesive tape per ribbon.

Fuse the adhesive tape to the ribbon. Let it cool and then peel off the paper backing.

Fuse both ribbons to each sleeve from shoulder to cuff.

Cut the ribbon to the length of the outside of the pant leg. Cut the double sided adhesive tape to the same length as the ribbons.

Fuse the adhesive tape to the ribbon. Let it cool and then peel off the paper backing.

Fuse both ribbons to each pant leg from waistband to hem. I fused the ribbon right next the the side seam to give me a guide.

Using the same adhesive tape add the ribbon to the hem of the pants. I fused it right over the side stripe of the pants.

Cut a piece of ribbon that is just longer than the helmet. Glue it onto the helmet with hot glue. I found that I could glue the ribbon onto the helmet and peel it off once it was cool.

Cut out a giant maple leaf from a 12×12 sheet of white iron-on vinyl using a cutting machine.

Peel the leaf out of the inside of the iron-on vinyl.

Apply the iron-on vinyl the to center of the cape. Since you weed the leaf it makes it red against the cape.
