This skeleton heart shirt is so fun and a little quirky for Valentine’s day. It’s perfect for any kid, and you get to download the free heart svg file!
I love a holiday shirt, but I love when they are pretty subtle. Since Valentine’s day was coming up I wanted a heart-inspired tee for my son to wear, but I didn’t want it to be over the top.
I thought a skeleton with a bright red heart would be the perfect combination, and you can get the free heart SVG file at the end of the post!
I’m going to be honest that I made this shirt for Halloween last year. He wanted a new shirt, and this style was just what he wanted. (If you like skeletons you can make a skeleton mermaid costume!)
In my head I was secretly thinking, “he can also wear this for Valentine’s day, and then I won’t have to make another tee!” That’s the same thing I did for his Wild One t-shirt with a free cut file.
I promise won’t tell if you use the heart SVG file for both a Halloween tee and a Valentine’s day tee! You could make these heart graphic tees for everyone all your kids and just switch out the color of the bones and the heart.
For a girl they would look great paired with these Heart Bows. The heart bows are easy to make and you can cut them out with the Cricut Maker!
I bought the black sweatshirt at the store in his size. In Design Space I sized the skeleton to be as big as a 12×12 mat would allow. I cut out the skeleton in white everyday iron-on vinyl*. On another mat I cut out the heart from red foil iron-on vinyl*.
Then I used my large EasyPress 2 to fuse it to the front of the tee. The ribs of the skeleton are just so big! See the difference between the EasyPress and the EasyPress 2! I love being able to cut with the Cricut Maker, and make a bunch of Cricut Maker projects!
What is an SVG file?
An SVG file is a scalable vector graphics or an image format that can be scaled large or small without losing any details. It’s a great way for sharing images that can be used in cutting machines since the image will stay perfect even if the size is changed.
Can these designs be used on Cricut, Silhouette, and Brother?
SVG files are great and can be used with any cutting machine as long as the machine’s program can have files added to it.
What is Iron-On Vinyl or HTV?
Iron-on vinyl or heat transfer vinyl is vinyl that has glue or adhesive on the back that is activated when heated. When the iron-on vinyl is heated the glue causes the iron-on vinyl to be fused to the t-shirt. The iron-on vinyl sits on top of the fabric.
The color of the iron-on vinyl is the color it will be after being heated. The color does not change.
What is Infusible Ink?
Infusible ink is ink that is transferred by heat. It’s essentially sublimation, but it’s now accessible to hobby crafters. When infusible ink is transferred the ink is infused into the item.
Infusible ink can be purchased as an infusible ink transfer sheet and as infusible ink pens. The colors of the infusible ink transfer sheet look pale before being heated, but they are very bright once heated and transferred.

I love this idea because it’s so hard to get something boy-appropriate for V-day!
