I’m so excited to share this PDF sewing pattern with you! I came up with the idea for this design over 5 years ago, and I finally expanded it into a multi-size and multi-view pattern!

With the Babydoll Dress and Top Pattern you will be able to make a dress, top, or tunic with three different sleeve options. The skirts can be switched around on the two bodice lengths for endless variations!

There are two different views in this sewing pattern, but everything can be switched around. There are also eight sizes for your growing child.

It has both a tiled pattern that can be printed and taped together, and a large A0 size to take to a copyshop.

This pattern can only be used with knit fabric like cotton spandex jersey or double brushed poly. It’s a great PDF pattern for confident beginners wanting to learn to work with knit fabric. This pattern includes step-by-step instructions, illustrations, and all the pattern pieces.

This pattern was originally designed as a free 18 mos babydoll top and it fit in one fat quarter of fabric. The secret was the unique way that the ruffle sleeve was cut from the neckline of the bodice.

Now that the pattern is expanded into lots of different views, styles, and sizes it cannot be cut from such a small piece of fabric, but the ruffle sleeve is still cut in the same unique way.

This pattern is great for a confident beginner that wants to get better sewing knit fabric. It’s a simple pattern that tackles some common techniques when working with stretch fabric.

what is a pdf sewing pattern?

A PDF pattern is a sewing pattern designed on the computer and organized so that it can be printed on several letter or A4 size pieces of paper.

I love using PDF sewing patterns because if the pattern gets ruined or if my children or I changed sizes, I can always print it again. It’ll never be destroyed since I have a digital version!

how do you use a PDF sewing pattern?

Open the PDF on a computer and click print. When printing make sure that the scaling is set to 100% or no scaling so that the pattern prints at the correct size.

Once the pattern is printed it can be taped together to get the full size. Then the pattern can be cut for each pattern piece size or individual sizes can be traced so that the pattern can be used again and again. Learn how to use PDF sewing patterns.

Babydoll Top – short bodice and short skirt

The top version of the babydoll pattern has a short bodice, like an empire waist, and a short skirt. It falls to hip length and can have a short sleeve or a long sleeve. The ruffle can be combined with either of the sleeves or used alone.

I’ve made the tops with a ruffle sleeve, short sleeve, and long sleeve. It is the perfect shirt length and looks great with leggings or jeans. My daughters love how comfortable it is.

The short bodice can be used with the short skirt for a shirt length or the long skirt for a tunic length. It’s easy to mix and match different fabrics, colors, and pattern pieces.

Babydoll dress – long bodice and long skirt

The dress version of the babydoll pattern has a long bodice that hits close to the natural waist, and a long skirt. It falls to knee length and can have a short sleeve or a long sleeve. The ruffle can be combined with either of the sleeves or used alone.

I’ve made the dress with a ruffle sleeve, short sleeve, and long sleeve. It is the perfect dress length and looks great with shorties or bloomers underneath.

The long bodice can be used with the short skirt for a tunic length or the long skirt for a dress length. It’s easy to mix and match different fabrics, colors, and pattern pieces.
