Make the Everyday Set sewing pattern that is versatile for any day of the year. Mix and match the top, shorts, sweatshirt, and sweatpants.

My girls have really been into sets for the past year. Whenever we go to shop for sets, we are so unhappy with all the options. It’s usually something that would be really hard to play in, or it doesn’t make sense for our weather and climate.

I was determined to make a set sewing pattern that would fulfill all their needs as kids and would make sense to me. I love making clothes for my children, and I really love making clothes for them that are functional and give them the ability to play.

That’s how the Everyday Set sewing pattern came to be. I wanted it to be versatile for all four seasons, lots of options for different looks, comfortable for wearing and playing, and trendy to make them happy.

I made several versions for my daughters as I was testing the shapes and lengths, and they have been wearing them all summer. They are actually their preferred choice to wear because they fit well, and they love having a trendy set! It makes my momma heart happy to see them enjoying the clothing I made for them.

Everyday Set Sewing Pattern

Cropped tee with Shorts

A loose fit slightly cropped tee with loose fit mid-thigh shorts and patch pockets. The tee is cropped like the current trends, but not too cropped to make it hard for them to play and run. The shorts are a great length and loose enough to be comfortable, and the pockets are optional. The tee and shorts are finished with a foldover hem.

Cropped Sweatshirt and Sweatpants:

A loose fit slightly cropped sweatshirt with loose fit sweatpants and patch pockets. The sweatshirt is only slightly cropped since the waistband makes in longer, but is a tighter fit to keep it above the hips. Add the optional hood that is extra large for a fun detail. The sweatpants are a comfortable loose fit with looser cuffs to keep the pants sitting on the shoes and optional pockets. In this version everything is finished with a waistband or cuff.

Everyday Set sewing pattern features:

Comes in 11 sizes: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12
Uses any knit fabric with at least 20% stretch like jersey, interlock, French Terry, sweatshirting, quilted knit, ponte de roma, waffle knit, etc. The different fabrics will slightly change the way the tops hang. Stiffer fabrics will give the top body and it won’t hang softly. Softer fabrics will give the top a draped look.
The ends are finished with hems, cuffs, or waistbands.

What fabric works for the Everyday Set sewing pattern?

This set needs a knit fabric with at least 20% stretch since there’s a lot of ease in the pattern. The sewing pattern is loose and don’t need a fabric that can stretch tightly across the body.

You can use fabric like cotton spandex jersey, interlock, French Terry, sweatshirting, quilted knit, ponte de roma, waffle knit, etc. The pattern is super versatile and works with lots of different knit fabrics!

The Everyday Set should be cut so that the stretch will go around the torso and legs to make them comfortable.

This pattern is useful for both summer and winter since it can be a tee, a sweatshirt, shorts, or sweatpants. It works for lots of children sizes, so it can be used through their whole childhood.
