Learn how to make the Babydoll dress with a circle skirt using a free downloadable PDF sewing pattern. It’s the perfect twirling dress!
My girls favorite thing to do while wearing a dress is to twirl and spin. They want to see the fabric fly out as they move.
The Babydoll dress and top pattern has great skirt to spin since it’s a gathered skirt, but I dreamed about adding a circle skirt. I created a free PDF for a circle skirt pattern in all 8 sizes that works perfectly with the long bodice of the Babydoll dress sewing pattern.
Circle skirts have the best movement and twirl factor. It’s so fun to watch the fabric move as my daughters play, and I love that there are no seams to sew except when you sew it to the bodice! It makes it so fast!

To cut out the skirt, fold your fabric in half once and the in half again so that two sides of the square have folds.
Place the circle skirt pattern piece so that the waist lines up with the center of the fabric and the folds are on each side.
Cut out one circle skirt piece.
Hem the skirt if desired. Leaving the knit fabric raw keeps the edge of the skirt soft and fluid, but there’s a chance that the fabric will roll towards the front over time.
Sew the skirt onto the bodice just like the original skirt in the pattern, but you do not have to gather.
