I came up with the idea for this pattern recently after I had several people ask if the baby t-shirt romper pattern could be sized up. The nature of the neckline of that baby pattern would not work for kid sizes. I had to think of a different way to sew the neckline so that it could stretch to be slipped on from the legs and so that it could still reuse the original neckline.

I used a bunch of t-shirts from my stash to make several rompers, dresses, and a shirt, and I used some dresses to make the jumpsuits.

It’s so inspiring and challenging to me when I can figure out ways to reuse parts of the original garment to make the sewing quicker and easier. I figured out how to reuse the neckline, the hem of the body and the hems of the sleeves.

I had so much fun creating this pattern, and I’ve made so many versions for my daughters. They pick the rompers and dresses to wear first from all their clothing because they love them the best!

Even though I couldn’t expand the design of the baby t-shirt romper, I love this new version! I think it’s faster and easier than the baby version, and it’s going to because my go-to pattern for my girls.

I wanted you to be able to sew and save money, sew and save time, sew and save memories, and sew to help prevent so many t-shirts from going to the landfill.
