Hacks for the Dragon Squish Stuffed Animal Pattern

Learn how to make different stuffed animals from the dragon in the Squish Stuffed Animal Sewing Pattern. It’s so fun to create different looks.
As I was designing this pattern, there were hundreds of animals I wanted to make, but I had to draw the line somewhere. I couldn’t have a hundred options in this pattern, or I never would have finished it!
I chose four animals that are pretty versatile, and I’ll show you how to hack each animal to make other animals. Let’s see what the dragon stuffed animal can become.

Dragon Squish Stuffed Animal
The dragon version has rounded ears that are folded. There are two horns and two wings. There are eyes and a muzzle with nostril holes on top. There is a tummy piece. It’s fun to mix and match the colors to make a different looking dragon. I made a turquoise one and a purple one in size small and giant.

It’s so fun to mix a bunch of colors together. I love the small version because you can use small pieces of cozy fabric.

I had some amazing testers sew up this pattern. It was so fun to see the stuffed animals they made. I loved they they used a mix of fabrics to show you all the different fabrics that will work for this sewing pattern.
Here are two of the dragons they made. This dragon has so much character with the multi color eyes and the mix of brown, white, and purple. It’s so cute!

This dragon looks so cuddly! That fabrics looks so soft, and I love the pop of yellow wings and dark blue horns. Did you see the star minky that the body is made from?

Hacks for the Dragon Squish Stuffed Animal Pattern
Turn the dragon into a unicorn by changing the fabric, eliminating the horns, moving the ears up, and adding a single horn.

I had so much fun making this Unicorn Squish stuffed animal. I picked a cute pink and blue striped fabric and then used matching pink and blue fabric for the different details. It came together so cute!

Turn the dragon into a bat by changing the fabric, eliminating the horns, and moving the ears up.

Turn the dragon into a cow by changing the fabric and eliminating the wings. Every time I made a dragon or dragon hack squish stuffed animal my husband said it looks like a cow. But the original dragon looks like a cow, and I kind of love it that way!

Turn the dragon into a horse by changing the fabric, adding a forehead diamond, eliminating the wings and horns, and moving the ears up.

For less experienced sewers do you have general information for choosing/working with stretch fabric (other than lots of pins), special needles used, whether a walking foot is essential, or any other advice?
