What fabric should I use to make fridge handle covers?

Fridge handle covers can be made from quilting cotton and canvas. Both of these fabrics are easy to sew and easy to find. They are also washable, and you can find them in any color or print.

I do recommend medium to dark colored fabrics to hide when they are getting dirty.

Should I interface the fridge handle covers?

Yes, you want to interface the fridge handle covers to make them stronger and more durable. You can also add fusible fleece and quilting to make the fridge handle covers slightly cushioned.

What is a PDF sewing pattern?

A PDF pattern is a sewing pattern designed on the computer and organized so that it can be printed on several letter or A4 size pieces of paper.

I love using PDF sewing patterns because if the pattern gets ruined or if my children or I changed sizes, I can always print it again. It’ll never be destroyed since I have a digital version!

How do you use a PDF sewing pattern?

Open the PDF on a computer and click print. When printing make sure that the scaling is set to 100% or no scaling so that the pattern prints at the correct size.

Once the pattern is printed it can be taped together to get the full size. Then the pattern can be cut for each pattern piece size or individual sizes can be traced so that the pattern can be used again and again. Learn how to use PDF sewing patterns.

Press the pieces flat with the seam allowances of the hole tucked inside. Pinch the hole closed with the seam allowance inside.

Sew 1/8 inch around the edge and over the hole to close it. Pivot at the corners.

edgestitch edges and close hole

Sew the Velcro onto each long side. One side of the Velcro goes on the front of the rectangle and the other side of the Velcro goes on the back of the rectangle. This is so the long edges will overlap when they are wrapped around the fridge handle.

add velcro to long sides

Roll the handle covers and attach the Velcro to make sure it works. Wrap them around the fridge handles. You finished!
