Learn how to put together DIY Home Alone costumes perfect for a family or three friends. This Halloween costume is easy and keeps you warm.
My husband and I love to choose couple costumes, and we often choose something with a bald character since my husband is bald. This year we chose Harry and Marv from Home Alone, and my son is blonde and was able to be Kevin.
This is a really fun costume to put together, and it was really easy. We bought a couple of things, but almost everything was already in our closets! Let me who you how easy it is to put these costumes together.

DIY Home Alone Costumes
The funnest part about these costumes is the it was pretty recognizable. If people didn’t recognize us and we told them, we would get great stories about watching the Home Alone movie.
What do I need to make Home Alone costumes?

Kevin
For Kevin I thrifted a red sweater and some green cargo pants. These things might be in your closet which makes it easier, but I felt it was really important for Kevin to wear red and green just like the movie. We also ended up putting a belt over one shoulder to look like it was carrying his toy rifle since we don’t have a toy rifle.

Harry
For Harry my husband wore a light colored button up shirt and dark pants. He had a dark scarf and a wool jacket. Then I thrifted a black beanie and cut a hole in the top and cut the edges off to make it look worn out. Then I stuck some white feathers in the edges.

I drew an “M” doorknob burn into his hand when a red permanent marker. Then I wiped a thin layer of fake blook on the top of his head to give his head the burned look. Those two makeup touches pulled the whole costume together.
We did not do any sort of gold tooth because all the options I looked into buying had really bad reviews. We just decided to skip it.

Marv
For Marv I wore a chambray button up shirt and plaid pants. I had the shirt, but I thrifted the pants. Then I wore a short cardigan and a wool coat. My coat is not like what Marv wears in the movie, but I wanted to use a coat I already had. I also put on some gloves with the fingers cut off.
Then I had my hair dry in braids which I brushed out to get the frizzy curls look. I piled my hair into a bun on top of my head and pulled out some curly strands. I added a big plastic spider in my hair to look like the tarantula from the movie.
The best was the iron burn makeup on my face. I painted fake blood on my face in the shape of an iron and blotted it a little bit to make it subtle. Then I brushed blush all over it to set it and to give it the right look.

Home Alone Trunk or Treat
We were planning on doing a Trunk or Treat with our church congregation, but it was too cold and rainy to do it inside. We moved it inside which messed up a bunch of our plans, but we did the best we could. I had made Kevin’s “Battle Plan” map from the movie, we also had Buzz’s girlfriend in a frame.
Then I put paint cans on the floor and ornaments. I wish I could had the paint cans hanging, but I couldn’t figure out a way to safely have them hanging without a way to secure them. I also didn’t crush the ornaments becuase I didn’t want anyone to get injured.
It still turned out great even though we had to change some planes!
