Free Pencil Skirt Pattern

Learn how to make a free pencil skirt pattern with the easiest no hem tutorial. Use your measurements to for your own custom pencil skirt.

A knit pencil skirt is a really simple shape and with this free pencil skirt pattern, it’s really simple to sew because there’s no hem to sew!

Pencil skirts are my very favorite skirts to wear. I love that it works fitted or loose tops, it’s cool for hot days, and it’s harder for kids or wind to lift up.

– Cotton spandex fabric – I used high quality Riley Blake Designs striped knit fabric* – Non-roll elastic* – Sewing supplies – Sewing machine Free pencil skirt pattern template

Use the free pencil skirt template to measure yourself and cut out the two pattern pieces. My skirt pieces look like to rectangles because I’m a rectangle shape.

Press the side seams towards the back of the skirt (you can choose which side is the back). Turn the tube right side out but stop when the raw edges are together.

You’ll have two raw edges on one side and a fold on one side. The pencil skirt will be lined with it’s own fabric. Put the elastic around your waist to figure out how tight you want it.
