Learn how to make a DIY star ornament with plaid fabric and a button. It’s a cute, easy, and simple Christmas sewing project.
DIY Christmas ornaments are a great way to use up scraps of fabric, batting, interfacing, and buttons. There’s so many beautiful ornaments you can sew with just scraps!
It works well with a red buffalo plaid since it’s makes it a little extra cozy and casual which is exactly the way I decorate.
MATERIALS
– Scraps of plaid quilting cotton or flannel – Scraps of fusible interfacing – Scrap of batting – Scrap of ribbon – Button
INSTRUCTIONS
Apply the interfacing to the back of the plaid fabric. Draw out your preferred star shape onto the interfacing.
INSTRUCTIONS
Cut out two fabric stars from the interfaced fabric in the exact same shape but mirrored. Cut out two stars from the batting.
I like to snip just the tips off of the batting points so that if the batting stretches out it won’t poke out at the points.
