Take three yellow t-shirts and sew upcycle them into a sunshine skirt. The fabric is soft and comfortable, and you don’t have to sew a hem.
I love working with and upcycling t-shirts. Its stretchy, soft and worn in, already hemmed, and cheap to buy (or free from your closet).
I bought three yellow shirts from a local thrift shop, and made it into a skirt. I chose different shades of yellow to shake it up a bit and add interest.
I cut the shirts horizontally just under the armpit and up the side seams so I had six big rectangles. I chose four and sewed them where the side seams used to be making one large cylinder.
I then gathered the top edge. I sewed a waistband casing in and put in an elastic. Wah la! A new, summery, happy skirt! I call it my sunshine skirt.
