Now let’s talk about this jacket. I am planning on using some gorgeous Ikat faux suede to make a blazer, but I needed to do a mock-up first. I thrifted some pretty gray suiting fabric that I decided to use for a mock-up and turned out well enough to be wearable! I used a Burdastyle fitted blazer pattern. I did have to do a lot of alterations, but they were all things I could do in the process of construction. I was careful to transfer them to the pattern, so I can use them again. I lengthened the body and sleeves and took in the sides and sleeves. It’s great!
I used a dark gray lining fabric so it really is a basic solid jacket. I wanted a basic jacket that could match with everything. I really love it so far and can’t wait for the weather to cool down.
This pattern is an advanced pattern. It has two welt pockets which I kind of hated during the process, but I love them now. I love having pockets in my jackets. I love the princess seams in the front and the back. The lines are so flattering. Here’s to cooler days and wearing jackets!
