I’ve pulled some cute items you can get inspired to make with the sewing pattern. I’ve divided up the ideas by the view of the pattern, but the majority of these ideas can be used on any of the views!

UPCYCLED Mid thigh shorts

  • Reuse a button placket for the front of the shorts for a faux button look.
  • Add slash pockets with ruffles
  • Use the pattern on adult swim shorts to make quick and easy swim trunks
  • Add pockets
  • Thin the legs for shorties

upcycled Bloomers

  • Add a ruffle to the hem for a more gathered look
  • Add a ruffle bum
  • Add a bubble pocket

UPCYCLED Knee length shorts

  • Use the pattern on adult basketball shorts
  • Add a ribbing waistband for comfort
  • Reuse a shirt chest design for one thigh of the shorts
  • Add pockets

UPCYCLED Straight leg pants

  • Do a shirred waist instead of 1 inch elastic
  • Thin the legs for leggings
  • Widen the legs for culottes
  • Add knee pads
  • Add a tuxedo stripe with a ribbon

  • Add a center front seam to each leg
  • Add monster spikes to a side seam

Whenever I use a t-shirt I lay it flat folded along the side seams. I smooth out all the wrinkles and line up the front and back hem on top of each other.

Whenever I use a t-shirt or shirt that has a side slit hem, I lay it flat folded along the center front and the center back.

I smooth out all the wrinkles and line up the front and back hem on top of each other. I lay the center of the shorts or pants over the side slit hem.

Whenever I use a men’s shirt I lay it flat folded along the center front and the center back. I smooth out all the wrinkles and line up the front and back hem on top of each other.

Men’s shirts have a curved hem so I make sure each side of the shorts is lined up with the hem and then the center will curve up like the original hem.

Whenever I use a sweatshirt I lay it flat folded along the side seams. I smooth out all the wrinkles and line up the front and back hem on top of each other.

Depending on the size of pants or shorts, you might be able to reuse the front design of a t-shirt. The design will go on the thigh of one leg.

When making bloomers or cuffed pants you have to make sure the hem is large enough to insert elastic. This hem can only be used as a regular hem.

When I use a dress that has a gathered skirt, I cut the skirt off. It makes it easier to lay it out flat to cut out.
