I’ve used this ghost SVG on a t-shirt that I bought at the store and on a sweatshirt that I sewed.

I used white everyday iron-on vinyl for the words and ghost on a black t-shirt, and I used white glitter iron-on vinyl for “BOO”. It’s really fun to switch up different materials and colors.

I think this ghost tee would look so good with this DIY ghost costume! It would be so fast to throw together!

I also made a Mini Briar sweatshirt out of  purple sweatshirt fleece which has almost no stretch. I chose a looser style that would work well with the sweatshirt fleece. It’s always good for me to practice choosing fabric for the right application instead of making it do what I want (because that never works).

Luckily, the sweatshirt fleece works for this swingy style. I made a size 2/3 Mini Briar with the awesome hi-lo style. I cut two inches off the bottom in the front and the back and added a 2 inch bottom band. I used purple ribbing* for all the bands because the purple is almost the same color!

I also did ghost fabric for the sleeves to make it more fun. I love that the ghost iron on vinyl matches the ghost on the sleeves. She also needed stretchy fabric for the arms or else it would be hard for her to bend her elbows. I guess I could’ve redrafted a wider sleeve that could use the minimal stretch sweatshirt fleece but this was faster.

I used the ghost “fabBOOlous” cut file out of purple metallic iron on vinyl. I’m still learning about using specialty iron on vinyl but this one was a success! She LOVES her ghost shirt!

What is Iron-On Vinyl or HTV?

Iron-on vinyl or heat transfer vinyl is vinyl that has glue or adhesive on the back that is activated when heated. When the iron-on vinyl is heated the glue causes the iron-on vinyl to be fused to the t-shirt. The iron-on vinyl sits on top of the fabric.

The color of the iron-on vinyl is the color it will be after being heated. The color does not change.

What is Infusible Ink?

Infusible ink is ink that is transferred by heat. It’s essentially sublimation, but it’s now accessible to hobby crafters. When infusible ink is transferred the ink is infused into the item.

Infusible ink can be purchased as an infusible ink transfer sheet and as infusible ink pens. The colors of the infusible ink transfer sheet look pale before being heated, but they are very bright once heated and transferred.
